Laser hair removal in Helsinki
When you've had enough of hair removal, we'll take care of it - with the same high quality as in a hospital.
Laser hair removal is simply the most effective way to get rid of body hair. The laser affects hair growth at the root level: when the hair follicle is disrupted or completely blocked, new hair no longer grows.
Laser treatment is suitable for almost all skin areas – to name a few, for example, underarms, legs, bikini area, face and back. After the treatment, the skin is smooth and hairless. However, several treatments are needed, as not all hairs are in the growth phase at the same time. The end result is a completely hairless or clearly thinned area, which can be maintained with laser hair removal once or twice a year, depending on the effects of hormonal activity.
Hair is hair, regardless of gender or age: we remove it from anyone whose skin and hair type allows it. Traditionally, the best results have required light or medium-light skin and dark hair, but our new generation diode lasers can also achieve good results on darker skin. The laser pulse does not work on light, red or gray hair.

Instructions
Before treatment
1. Do not wax, epilate or sugar approximately 5 weeks before treatment
The laser targets the hair follicle, which must be in place under the skin. If the hair has been removed by the root, the laser has nothing to affect.
2. Avoid tanning 2–4 weeks before treatment
The skin should be as light as possible to ensure good contrast between the laser and the hair. Sunbathing, solariums and self-tanning can therefore reduce the treatment results and also increase the risk of burns.
3. No skin-irritating products 3–5 days before treatment
Take a break from acid peels, retinol, AHA/BHA acids, vitamin C, and benzoyl peroxide at least 3–5 days before treatment to give your skin time to calm down.
3. Shave your skin about 2 days before treatment
Hair should be shaved about two days before treatment, about 1–2 mm of stubble may remain. During the first treatment, you can take a picture of the area before shaving and send it to us on WhatsApp so that treatment planning can be more successful.
Note: hair must be shaved, not plucked!
4. Wash your skin before treatment
The skin in the treatment area should be free of makeup, deodorant, perfume, creams, oils, or other impurities.
5. Report medications and illnesses
In particular, photosensitizing medications (e.g. certain antibiotics, Roaccutane or similar) may affect the effectiveness or safety of the treatment. It is also a good idea to mention hormone medication and skin diseases before treatment.
6. Avoid exercise and sweating immediately before treatment.
7. Bring a photo ID and arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled time.
Who is laser hair removal suitable for?
The new generation of lasers effectively achieves clean and smooth skin. It is especially suitable for:
- for people with light or medium-light skin and dark hair -> Bare devices also give good results on darker skin!
- for those looking for a long-lasting solution to hair removal.
- for those suffering from skin irritation caused by mechanical removal and to reduce the chemical load.
- for example, for those suffering from ingrown hairs or folliculitis.
After treatment
After laser treatment, your skin will be more sensitive for a while. Aftercare will help speed up recovery and prevent irritation.
The first 24–48 hours after treatment
- Avoid saunas, baths and strenuous exercise, as heat and sweating can irritate the skin.
- Do not use perfumed or skin-irritating products (e.g. deodorant, perfumes, scrubs) in the treatment area.
- If the treatment was performed on the face, avoid wearing make-up for at least 24 hours.
- Avoid touching and scratching the skin, even if it itches: the skin needs rest!
- Dress loosely and softly, as tight and abrasive clothing can irritate the treated skin.
- Redness and slight swelling are normal and can last from a few hours to a couple of days.
Later
- Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds for at least 1-4 weeks, depending on your skin type.
- Always use sunscreen (SPF 30-50) on treated areas, even on cloudy days.
- Avoid self-tanning products for at least 1-2 weeks.
When can I return to normal life?
- You can usually return to your daily routine the next day, as long as the treated area is not exposed to heavy sweating or rubbing.
- You can resume using makeup, deodorant, and normal skin care products as normal after 1–2 days, once the skin has calmed down.
Who else wouldn't?
In the following cases, laser hair removal is not possible or the results are not as good as otherwise. Contact us if you are unsure about the suitability of the treatment!
1. Blonde, red or gray hair
The laser affects melanin, the hair's own pigment. The darker the hair, the better it absorbs the energy of the laser light. Very light, reddish or grey hair has little or no pigment, so the laser cannot effectively affect the hair follicle.
2. Inflamed or broken skin
Laser treatment is not performed on skin areas that have:
- active rash
- wounds or burns
- acute acne, irritated or inflamed skin
- So let's get back to it once the skin has fully healed!
3. Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Laser treatment is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women as a precautionary measure. Hormonal changes can affect treatment results, and treatments are often postponed to be on the safe side.
4. Certain medications
Some medications can make the skin sensitive to light, which increases the risk of skin reactions or burns during laser treatment. Of particular note are:
- photosensitizing antibiotics
- isotretinoin (e.g. Roaccutane)
- some acne and mood medications
- corticosteroids
If you are taking medication, always mention it before treatment - we will check safety on a case-by-case basis.
5. Certain skin diseases
Laser treatment is not performed on areas with active:
- psoriasis
- eczema
- lupus
- other disease that increases photosensitivity
If necessary, we can laser calm areas of the skin.
6. Tattoos or pigment spots in the area
The laser may react with the pigment, which in turn leads to a risk of burns. Hair is not removed directly from the tattoo, but the tattooed area is protected before treatment.
7. Imbalanced hormonal function
For example, PCOS can cause abnormal hair growth. Laser treatment can control excessive hair growth, but without treating the underlying cause, the hair will likely grow back over time. In this case, laser may be part of a larger treatment package, not a stand-alone solution.
This is how laser hair removal works
When you've had enough of hair removal, we'll take care of it - with the same high quality as in a hospital.
1. Prepare for treatment
Shave approximately two days before treatment and avoid sun, sweat and skin irritants before treatment. Wash thoroughly. You will receive more detailed instructions when booking your appointment and in the Before Treatment section above.
2. Welcome to us!
The therapist will review the treatment area, any previous treatments, skin condition and other relevant information with you. The treatment area will be cleaned of makeup, creams and other residue, and a cooling gel will be applied. If necessary, the hair can be trimmed if there is any left unshaven.
3. Laser treatment
The laser is adjusted to your skin type and hair characteristics, then we treat the area to be treated in stages. The device's cooling technology makes the treatment much more comfortable than many expect!
4. After treatment
Immediately after the treatment, your skin may be red or feel warm, which is completely normal. You will also receive personalized aftercare instructions, and you can always refer to the general instructions in the After Treatment section above.
5. Time for next time
Usually, multiple treatments are needed to achieve the correct hair growth phase. The rhythm of hair growth determines the best interval.
Where can hair be removed?
Laser hair removal is suitable for almost all skin areas, as long as the skin is intact and healthy. Hair cannot be removed from tattoos, but the marks are protected during the laser treatment. Examples in the picture!

Bare diode laser
More effective hair removal and longer-lasting results with fewer treatments.
The bare devices are hospital-grade diode lasers, supervised by a physician in charge. The device produces three different wavelengths of laser light simultaneously, which allows us to better treat varying pigmentation or hair in different growth stages.
The working energy produced by the device (10 J 5 ms) and the short pulse duration effectively destroy the hair follicle already in the initial stages of the treatment sessions. This allows the hair to be treated in a controlled manner and without unnecessary stress on the surrounding skin tissue. The device's power and long service life support the reliability of the treatments and consistent results.
The device has four different sized treatment heads, which allow you to choose the right treatment method for the skin area being treated. We can treat both large and small skin areas in a controlled manner. The handpiece has effective TEC cooling technology, which reduces thermal irritation during treatment - it directly affects how much the treatment feels and how high a power it can be safely performed.

Differences between lasers
Laser vs. laser? Unfortunately not: there can be significant differences in effectiveness and equipment level.
Before making an appointment, it is worth finding out what type of device the treatment will be performed with.
Many of the devices used in the field are technically lower-power or single-wavelength, i.e. they are based on either a single diode laser wavelength or even IPL technology, which is not a laser but a light pulse therapy. The number of pulses and the precise targeting of energy are usually more limited in these systems, which directly affects the effectiveness and durability of the treatment.
Another essential difference is the cooling technology. TEC cooling is an active and effective way to manage the heat load on the skin, while in lower-powered devices, cooling may be passive or incomplete. In this case, the treatment is more felt.
