  • What areas can be treated with laser hair removal?

Laser treatment can be used on virtually any area of the body, as long as the skin is intact and healthy. The area being treated must not have tattoos, as they will be covered during the treatment. Here are some examples:

    Face

    • Posket
    • Leuka
    • Ylähuuli
    • Kaula
    • Korvakarvat
    • Hiusraja

    Upper body

    • Armpits
    • Shoulders
    • Back
    • Chest
    • Abdomen
    • Arms
    • Palms and fingers

    Alavartalo

    • Lowers
    • Thighs
    • Footballs and toes
    • Buttocks
    • Bikini area
    • Genital areas, anus and perineum
  • Who is laser hair removal suitable for?

The new generation of lasers effectively achieves clean and smooth skin. It is especially suitable for:

    • for people with light or medium-light skin and dark hair -> Bare devices also give good results on darker skin!
    • for those looking for a long-lasting solution to hair removal.
    • for those suffering from skin irritation caused by mechanical removal and to reduce the chemical load.
    • for example, for those suffering from ingrown hairs or folliculitis.
  • Who else wouldn't?

In the following cases, laser hair removal is not possible or the results are not as good as otherwise. Contact us if you are unsure about the suitability of the treatment!

    1. Blonde hair on dark skin

The laser affects melanin, the hair's own pigment. The darker the hair, the better it absorbs the energy of the laser light. Very light, reddish or grey hair has little or no pigment, so the laser's thermal energy affects the pigment of dark skin more. However, it is worth contacting us and asking our expert's opinion regarding a possible procedure.

    2. Inflamed or broken skin

Laser treatment is not performed on skin areas that have:

    active rash

    wounds or burns

acute acne, irritated or inflamed skin

So let's get back to it once the skin is completely healed!

    3. Pregnancy or breastfeeding

Laser treatment is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women as a precautionary measure. Hormonal changes can affect treatment results, and treatments are often postponed to be on the safe side.

    4. Certain medications

Some medications can make the skin sensitive to light, which increases the risk of skin reactions or burns during laser treatment. Of particular note are:

    • photosensitizing antibiotics
    • isotretinoin (e.g. Roaccutane)
    • some acne and mood medications
    • corticosteroids

If you are taking medication, always mention it before treatment - we will check safety on a case-by-case basis.

    5. Certain skin diseases

Laser treatment is not performed on areas with active:

    • psoriasis
    • eczema
    • lupus
    • other disease that increases photosensitivity
    • If necessary, we can laser calm areas of the skin.

    6. Tattoos or pigment spots in the area

The laser may react with the pigment, which in turn leads to a risk of burns. Hair is not removed directly from the tattoo, but the tattooed area is protected before treatment.

    7. Imbalanced hormonal function

For example, PCOS can cause abnormal hair growth. Laser treatment can control excessive hair growth, but without treating the underlying cause, the hair will likely grow back over time. In this case, laser may be part of a larger treatment package, not a stand-alone solution.

  • I've heard that laser hair removal isn't suitable for dark skin.

Modern diode lasers are also suitable for darker skin types. Previously, laser treatments were associated with a higher risk of burns, especially on highly pigmented skin, but these newer devices are equipped with, among other things, more precisely adjustable energy levels and effective cooling.

Laser treatment is always planned individually. If you are unsure about your skin type, we are happy to help with the assessment!

  • Is one visit enough?

The laser is only effective on hair that is in the active growth phase. Since hair grows at different rates, 5–8 treatments are usually needed.

Laser hair reduction is permanent, but it does not necessarily remove every single hair. For example, hormonal changes can activate new hair follicles later: a maintenance treatment once every 6–12 months helps keep the skin clear.

  • How do I prepare for laser hair removal? What happens afterwards?

Take a look at the comprehensive instructions. from here!

  • Does laser treatment hurt?

For most people, laser hair removal feels like warmth on the skin or a slight pinch. The intensity of the sensation depends on the area being treated, the thickness of the hair, your own pain threshold, and most importantly, the device.

Bare devices are equipped with effective cooling, which makes the treatment significantly more comfortable. The device is individually adjusted for each client and can also be adjusted during the treatment.

  • What is the technology behind laser hair removal based on?

Laser hair removal is based on selective photothermolysis, a process in which precisely focused laser energy is absorbed into the skin's hair follicle without damaging the surrounding skin.

The laser device emits light of a specific wavelength that is absorbed by the pigment in the hair, called melanin. When the melanin absorbs this light, it turns into heat and destroys the hair follicle, which prevents or significantly slows down the growth of new hair.

  • Why is your device so good?

We use a top-quality diode laser that produces three different wavelengths of laser light. This achieves the best possible results for different hair colors on different skin color areas.

The laser has 4 treatment heads of different sizes, which can be used to effectively treat different skin areas.

    • Efficient TEC cooling technology reduces and even eliminates pain during treatment
    • Fast laser pulse
    • More comfortable treatment for the patient
    • Better treatment results even for dark skin
  • Why doesn't everyone use it then?

The bare diode laser is similar to the devices used in hospitals and requires a doctor to use it. Therefore, most beauty professionals use a less powerful device.

  • How is the reception time used?

The time you book (30, 60 or 90 min) does not only include the laser treatment itself, but the entire treatment session. The actual time spent performing the treatment varies depending on the area being treated.

The reserved time consists of, among other things, the following:

    • initial preparations and skin examination
    • self-care
    • necessary breaks and area changes
    • final instructions and follow-up care advice
    • recording the visit
  • Can medication prevent laser treatment?

Yes. Certain medications can increase the skin's photosensitivity, making laser treatment unsafe. This makes the skin more sensitive to light and heat, increasing the risk of burns and skin irritation.

Photosensitivity can be caused by, for example:

    • certain antibiotics (tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones)
    • diuretics
    • acne medications (especially isotretinoin)
    • some heart and psychiatric medications

If you are taking photosensitizing medication, your treatment may need to be postponed. Some medications require a waiting period of several months before laser treatment.

Please remember to inform us about all medications you are taking before your treatment so that we can ensure the safety of your treatment. If necessary, you can always consult us before booking an appointment, for example by email.
